Ride Resources for Patients Undergoing GI
Procedures with Sedation

Have an upcoming procedure scheduled at Gastroenterology of the Rockies? Can’t find a ride? Take a look at this useful resource guide for ride services – which also includes a person who will sign your discharge paperwork after the procedure.

All procedures that require sedation or anesthesia require patients to have a pre-arranged ride to and from the procedure—and a discharge signature from a responsible adult who can accompany the patient back home.

This requirement is based on Colorado state regulation. It includes patients scheduled for colonoscopies and endoscopy procedures. This does not apply to hemorrhoid banding procedures.

If you need some help setting up a ride prior to your procedure, review this local ride guide to arrange a driver who can safely transport patients to and from scheduled procedures.

Gastroenterology of the Rockies does not manage these ride services.

Transportation on the day of your procedure:

  • A responsible adult MUST BE PRESENT (18 years or older) with you at check-in before your procedure and MUST BE ABLE to pick you up IMMEDIATELY when you are discharged. You are NOT ALLOWED to drive, take a taxi or bus, or leave the Endoscopy Center alone. If you do not have a responsible driver with you to take you home, your procedure WILL BE CANCELLED.
  • Because of the sedation, you are NOT ALLOWED to use a bus, taxi, Uber/Lyft, Access-a-Ride, walk home, etc. alone.
    • All procedures that require sedation or anesthesia require patients to have a pre-arranged ride to and from the procedure—and a discharge signature from a responsible adult who can accompany the patient back home.
