Celebrating Colon Cancer Awareness Month

Colon Cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the United States. Every March, National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month spotlights this disease and inspires more people to get checked starting at age 45. Two reasons why getting checked matters:

1. Screening can find the warning signs of colon and rectal cancer, letting doctors take action to prevent the disease.

2. Screening can also find colorectal cancer early, when treatment is most effective.

One in 24 people will be diagnosed with CRC in their lifetime, but you can help us make a difference today by building awareness of this highly-preventable cancer. Tomorrow can’t wait! Here are some facts and estimates around colon cancer:

• The 2nd leading cause of cancer death in the U.S.

• The Average Lifetime Risk for Men = 1 in 23

• The Average Lifetime Risk for Women = 1 in 25

• 153,020 people will be diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer in 2023

• 52,550 people will die from Colorectal Cancer in 2023
