August 2021 Newsletter
It is hard to believe it’s already August! Time is flying! August means kids start back to school, the Tokyo Olympics will wrap up, and someone shared with me that “Elvis week” is also this month. Who knew!?
Service Excellence is a common health care related strategic objective that management teams focus on daily. GI of the Rockies is no different and we have several objectives within our strategic plan that cater to improving service excellence. But what does “service excellence” mean? To fully understand this objective, we need to understand the meaning:
“Service”—the action of helping or doing work for others.
“Excellence”—the quality of being outstanding or extremely good.
To me, the term service excellence reminds me of the quote from Baruch Spinoza (Dutch philosopher) who famously said, ‘All things excellent are as difficult as they are rare’. I love this, because truly excellent things are hard to acquire, require work and commitment, and should be celebrated when they occur.
Starting this month, we will be rolling out an initiative that will recognize teams who consistently provide service excellence. Each quarter, our leadership team (directors, medical directors, and Board) will vote on a winner for the Endoscopy Center of the Quarter and Clinic (office) of the Quarter. Those teams who embody our values every day, support our mission, and exceed the expectations of our patients will have a shot at earning the quarterly recognition. Those who earn the quarterly recognition will win GRock swag, proudly display a “coveted” trophy for the duration of the next quarter and will be treated to a nice dinner with the leadership team.
There is a ton of quality work going on within our organization. I expect that we will have some spirited debate from our management team in late October as we discuss the merits of which endo center and which office earns this first designation!
Lastly, this month we are excited to be rolling out our new website. Look for this to go-live the week of August 9. It will have a clean and contemporary feel that will have a user-friendly interface that should cater to the needs of our patients and referral sources. I think you all will be proud of this design.
Stay well!
Sincerely,
Jason Richardson
